Stepping out for extravagant evening, Cate Blanchett was in attendance at the 2012 AACTA Awards in Sydney, Australia on Tuesday (January 31).
The ?Curious Case of Benjamin Button?beauty dazzled the S ydneyOpera House red carpet in a gold Alexander McQueen frock before heading inside to tend to her presenter duties.
On the career front for Blanchett, the Oscar winner is set to star in a production of Botho Strauss? ?Big and Small (Gross and Klein) at London?s Barbican Theatre.
With Benedict Andrews directing, the limited offering begins on April 13th and concludes on April 29th.

Workin’ Woman Kim Kardashian Shows Off Lighter Locks

Getting another workday underway, Kim Kardashian was spotted arriving at an office in Beverly Hills, CA on Tuesday (January 31).
The E! reality star showed off her newly lightened hair hairdo as she made her way through the parking garage and inside the local building.
Of her recent coif change, Miss Kardashian tweeted the previous day, “I dyed my hair lighter yesterday! I’m loving it! New hair color = new beginnings for me. You like?”
Talking about the switchup, star colorist Rebecca Friedman spoke with Us magazine, saying, “With everything she’s gone through, a little bit of change is nice.”
Having spent about three hours working on Kardashian’s locks, Rebecca describes the ‘do as “cooler, chocolate-y brown” with ?sun-kissed streaks that are close to her childhood color.”

The fifth installment of the apocalyptic franchise sees the Umbrella Corporation?s deadly T-virus ravage the Earth to the point that the global population has become undead flesh-eaters.
?Resident Evil: Retribution? stars Milla Jovovich as Alice, who hunts all over the globe for those responsible for the outbreak.
Set to hit theaters on September 14th, the film also stars Sienna Guillory, Michelle Rodriguez, Kevin Durand, Jason Isaacs, and Shawn Roberts.

Paula Abdul Confirms “The X Factor” Departure

Confirming rumors that first broke the previous night, Paula Abdul is a judge on “The X Factor” no more.
The 49-year-old released an official statement on the matter on Tuesday (January 31), as she told, ?Yes, it?s true; I won?t be returning to The X Factor next season. I?ve learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations.?
Miss Abdul continued, ?Simon and I, along with Fox and Fremantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, and I have absolute understanding of the situation. Simon is, and will remain a dear friend of mine and I?ve treasured my experience working this past season with my extended family at Fox and Fremantle.?
With the exit coming after just one season, Paula’s wished the show well going forward, as she added, ?I want nothing more than for The X Factor to exceed ALL of their wildest dreams. This truly has been a blessing and I am most grateful.”

Adele Confirmed to Make Grammy Awards Comeback

Much to the delight of her mega fan base, it has just been announced that Adele will partake in her first post-throat surgery performance at the 2012 Grammy Awards.
Already up for an impressive six nominations, the 23-year-old singer announced that she will take the stage for the February 12th show via her Twitter page this morning (January 31).
“Ima be, Ima be singing at the Grammys. It’s been so long I started to forget I was a singer! I can’t wait,” Adele wrote.
Following her social media confirmation, Adele released a more formal statement to press, reading, “I’m immensely proud to have been asked to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards. It’s an absolute honor to be included in such a night and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all.”
In addition to her Grammy’s gig, the “Rolling in the Deep” diva previously announced plans to perform at the Brit Awards which are scheduled for February 21st.
